Project objectives

• Define and validate operational AW indicators and thresholds: select species- and context-specific animal-based indicators and propose actionable thresholds and scoring systems that can trigger interventions or support regulatory decisions.
• Investigate AW risk mitigation through surveillance case studies, using experimental, modelling and data-driven approaches on real-world and historical datasets.
• Develop digital tools and factsheets (dashboards, apps, interactive factsheets) for competent authorities and certifiers.
• Deliver capacity building and training for inspectors, veterinarians, producers and researchers to promote uptake of indicators, thresholds and surveillance systems.

Outcomes and impacts

Outcomes:

• widespread adoption of validated AW indicators and thresholds;
• deployment of functional AW risk assessment,
• surveillance and alert systems; integration of surveillance into routine control by authorities and certifiers;
• enhanced capacity among field professionals via multilingual training and a European Community of Practice;
• stronger stakeholder collaboration.
